Guided Tour with Entry Ticket: What to Expect
This tour bundles everything essential for a great Caminito del Rey experience: return transport from Málaga, a professional English-speaking guide, the official timed-entry ticket, a helmet, and the shuttle transfer between the two entrances. It is a compact, no-fuss package that suits most travellers visiting from Málaga.
The Caminito del Rey route runs 7.7 km through the Gaitanes Gorge, one of the most dramatic landscapes in Andalucía. Boardwalks pinned to sheer limestone cliffs give you views straight down into the gorge hundreds of metres below. The walk is one-directional and takes around 3–4 hours at a relaxed pace, with your guide pointing out the best viewpoints and explaining the history of the pathway.
Small Group Advantage
Smaller group sizes mean the guide can answer questions, adjust the pace, and spend more time at the sections most people find most dramatic — the original crumbling sections of the old pathway and the final suspended bridge near the South Entrance.
Food and Drinks — What to Bring
Unlike the welcome-pack tours, food and drink are not included in this option. There are no cafes or shops on the route itself, so bring at least 1.5 litres of water and a snack. The walk is physically moderate — no steep climbs — but the heat in summer (June to September) makes hydration essential.
Practical Information
Departure from Málaga is typically early morning. Confirm your pickup point and time in the booking voucher. Closed-toe shoes with grip are mandatory — the entrance staff will turn back visitors in sandals or flip-flops. The shuttle between the North and South entrances is included, so you do not need to arrange your own transport back to your starting point.
This tour is a reliable mid-range choice: more affordable than the premium welcome-pack options, but with everything that matters — guide, ticket, transport — already sorted.
What Travelers Say
Rated 4.6/5 by 15012 verified GetYourGuide travelers.
we had a fantastic guide, and absolutely incredible experience that we will remember forever. A lot of walking down make sure you have comfortable "broken in" trainers. Also once the guide leaves you at the end you have to walk another 20mins to get to the shuttle stop. Not for people who are scared of heights or who have issues with knees/ankles/hips.

Awesome!!! It pushed my vertigo to the limit! The whole family loved it and the guide was just perfect and engaging discussion with the team.

Caminito del rey was absolutely fantastic! Spectacular views! Even greater than imagined from photos I had earlier seen. Special thanks to our guide Maiky (Not sure if spelled correctly). She gave us a lot of interesting facts, and was very talkative when myself or someone else asked follow-up questions. Only complaint is that it could be somewhat difficult to hear everything being said on the earphones, as the noise could be a bit squeaky at times.
